INEC commissioner, stop the open romance with Governor Ayade’s commissioners

Spread the love

The attention of young progressives party (YPP) , Cross River State chapter has been drawn to the unnecessary and unprofessional courtesy calls by the newly posted resident electoral commissioner to cross river State, Dr Emmanuel Hart to ministries and commissioners in the payroll of Cross River State government.

We feel very dissatisfied and disappointed to note that an electoral umpire that is meant to be professional and focused on his primary responsibility of conducting a free, fair and credible election has elected to be involved in a jamboree courtesy engagement and familiarisation visit to MDAs in the state.

For a State that has always benefited from a well organized rigging agenda orchestrated by the PDP and delivered by the lNEC, we are curious to note this new open romance by the REC and commissioners in the state. For the avoidance of doubt, we expect the REC to familiaze himself with the Governor who is the chief security officer of the state, the commissioner of police and other security agencies as well as organisations that are relevant to his assignment and not to start dinning and wining with every Tom, Dick and Harry in the State in the name of courtesy.

We are even surprised that he has not considered it expedient to interact with political parties in the state. We equally hasten to inform the REC that he is not the chairman of Cross River State independent electoral commission, CROSIEC who is appointed by the state government.

As we approach the forthcoming Northern senatorial district bye election, we want to put it on record that YPP CRS will not tolerate any form of rigging. We are going to resist any attempt to further reduce our state to a one party state.

While we wholeheartedly welcome Dr Emmanuel Hart, the new REC to cross river state, we implore him to conduct himself in very professional manner and avoid any indulgence that could cast further doubts about the credibility of our floundering electoral institution. We will keep our watchful eyes on the electoral process and ensure that we get it right this time around.

Comrade Anthony Bissiong Attah, State Chairman

(chief servant) young progressives party, YPP, CRS.
